My research aims to develop a new aggregate made with geopolymer that could replace the natural aggregate. This aggregate has an specific shape and texture, that are achieved using 3d printed moulds that the geopolymer is cast into and cured. These characteristics were chosen to help reduce the rolling noise of the cars and improve the friction, therefore making the streets safer. The geopolymer was chosen because is a material that can give a new meaning to the powders that are residues from the mining companies, thus reducing the need for new extractions of a finite material such as rocks.
