Research focus

The research is focused on studying the impact of oil and gas production on the Niger Delta environment over the years. It is carried out by employing remote sensing techniques with multi temporal satellite data to detect land degradation, extent of the land degradation, detect areas affected by oil pollution, assess of the extent of the pollution, detect the potential areas of pipelines corrosion, detect gas flares, estimate the quantity of greenhouse gases released by the gas flares, and plan reclamation activities and assessment of their efficiency.
