Research focus

There has been a growing interest in therapeutic peptides within the pharmaceutical industry with more than 50 peptide drugs on the market, approximately 170 in clinical trials, and >200 in preclinical development. Currently, large amounts of toxic and hazardous solvents and reagents are required for peptide synthesis, switching to water as a reaction medium remains a major hurdle in peptide chemistry. To overcome this problem, I am working to develop an easy and sustainable approach for the spontaneous formation /synthesis of peptides in water by utilizing the self-assembly phenomenon.
