Research focus

Dr Lesley Barr is a nurse academic and podcast creator. With over 20 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the United Kingdom and Australia, she is passionate about nursing and has held senior nursing and managerial positions in correctional healthcare and public health. Her PhD research foci was on forensic mental health nursing, with a specific focus on reducing restrictive practices and improving mental health care for First Nation Australians. Dr Barr has demonstrated a strong publication record in high-impact international journals and has presented her research widely, both nationally and internationally. In addition, Dr Barr creates educational podcasts, using generative AI that support evidence-based practices.
