Research focus
I am an interdisciplinary geoscientist, integrating natural and social science approaches to address issues relating to sustainable development and disaster risk reduction (DRR). I have a degree in Natural Sciences (Cambridge, 2008), a Masters in Engineering Geology (Leeds, 2010), and a PhD in Geography - Natural Hazards (King's College London, 2016). My current role at the British Geological Survey involves: (i) Supporting a broad range of geoscience-for-development initiatives, underpinning them with guidance on good development practice, monitoring and evaluation, research ethics, and research communications. (ii) Designing and delivering multi-hazards research aiming to reduce disaster risk, with a particular focus on urban environments and Global South contexts.
