Dr Dr Francisca Ortiz

Francisca Ortiz Ruiz, is a sociologist from the Alberto Hurtado University, has a master's degree from the Catholic University of Chile, and a PhD from the Mitchell Center for Social Network Analysis, from the University of Manchester. She is Founder and Coordinator of the Feminist Network of Social Sciences in Chile, and part of the council of Women in Network Science. She has worked with the Manchester Institute for Collaborative Research on Aging (MICRA) studying ageist discourses on Twitter, and coordinating its Network of young and doctoral researchers. She has experience working on aging from a wide variety of techniques, such as ethnographic approaches, quantitative data, document analysis, and biographical interviews. Her main interests are mixed methodologies, social gerontology, social network analysis, and science, gender and care. In her role as a Postdoctoral Fellow at MICARE, she is researching networks of support and care networks for the older people from the south using mixed methodologies.
